Salt crystallizes attachment into its most permanent and unyielding form, the residue of desire hardened by repetition into something that feels indistinguishable from necessity. Lead reflects the crushing weight of chains that are no longer even recognized as chains, the heaviness of a bondage so thoroughly internalized that it presents itself as identity.
