Lugh

2026, digital, 45 x 68 in.

Lugh is based upon a visionary experience I had where I encountered Lugh, the Celtic god associated with light. In the vision, I saw a powerful figure composed of shimmering, radiant golden light. His form appeared almost liquid, like luminous plasma, refracting beams of rainbow light in the way a diamond catches and scatters light.

Lugh felt boundless and powerful, with his hair flowing through space as though suspended underwater. At his sides appeared his fabled horse, formed not from fire, but from a brilliant, flame-like light. Within the experience, I also encountered imagery that resembled fusion energy.

At first, the scene felt almost apocalyptic. The more I reflected on the experience, however, the more it seemed to communicate an intense form of fire and solar energy, which felt connected to Lugh and his association with light.

I created this piece around Lughnasadh in 2026. It felt as though the vision was communicating the energy of the season I was experiencing at that moment and translating it into visual form.
