The Planetary Heptad of Mercury

This section examines each individual heptad as presented in Occultum Lapidem: The Planetary Heptad, and functions as a companion framework to the Aeon of Da’Ath Tarot. Each heptagram is structured around seven points, with planetary correspondences positioned along its perimeter. These correspondences are not treated as symbolic ornaments, but as the essential spiritual qualities embodied by the seven classical planets.

Within every heptad, the ruling planet appears in its own direct expression. This is the planet reflected through itself, its pure spiritual quality, unmediated and foundational. From this central principle, the remaining six correspondences articulate how that planetary force refracts through the other classical influences.

Each planetary expression follows a consistent metaphysical structure. Saturn corresponds to one of the seven classical metals. Jupiter aligns with one of the seven archangels. Mars is expressed through one of the seven Goetic spirits, each governed by the counterbalancing authority of the angel that rules over it. Sol corresponds to one of the seven Olympic spirits. Venus is expressed through one of the seven planetary spirits. Mercury aligns with one of the seven Hebrew double letters. Luna corresponds to one of the seven planetary intelligences. Additionally each color corresponds to one of the Sephirots on the Tree of Life in relation to the Golden Dawn’s queen scale color assignment.

Together, these correspondences form a closed system, mapping how a single planetary force manifests across multiple layers of reality, material, spiritual, cognitive, and operative. Each heptad functions as a complete circuit, revealing the internal logic of the planet rather than a collection of isolated symbols.

What follows is the Heptad of Mercury, outlining how Mercury’s essential nature is expressed through each of these seven correspondences.

Mercury of Saturn – Physical Embodiment (Mercury)

Mercury, as a substance, corresponds to Mercury because it resists fixed form. It is fluid, reflective, and unstable, shifting between states without settling. Through Saturn, Mercurial energy is forced into material embodiment, revealing tension between movement and containment. This aspect governs cognition under pressure, intelligence constrained by structure, and the challenge of fixing what is inherently mobile.

Mercury of Jupiter – Divine Governance (Raphael)

Raphael represents Mercury under divine order and beneficence. When Mercury acts through Jupiter, communication becomes guidance, knowledge becomes healing, and movement serves coherence. This correspondence governs teaching, mediation, and the ethical transmission of information. Mercury here expands understanding while remaining aligned with purpose and care.

Mercury of Mars – Raw Force (Adramelech)

Adramelech corresponds to Mercurial energy sharpened into aggression. Thought becomes weaponized, speech becomes attack, and intelligence is used to dominate rather than connect. This aspect governs manipulation, strategic deception, and forceful rhetoric. Mercury through Mars reveals the capacity of language and intellect to provoke, incite, or destabilize.

Mercury of Sol – Ruling Intelligence (Ophiel)

Ophiel expresses Mercury as organizing intelligence and conscious coordination. Through the solar principle, Mercurial movement gains clarity, direction, and authority. This correspondence governs systems thinking, conscious planning, and the ability to integrate information into unified purpose. Mercury here serves identity and will rather than dispersion.

Mercury of Venus – Vital Energy (Taphthartharath)

Taphthartharath represents Mercurial vitality expressed through attraction and desire. Communication becomes seductive, ideas become appealing, and connection is driven by pleasure and curiosity. This aspect governs charm, persuasion, and the emotional charge carried by language. Mercury here binds intellect to sensation and relational pull.

Mercury of Mercury – Operation (Beth)

This is Mercury in its pure operational state. Beth embodies movement, exchange, and articulation without interference. Thought flows freely, systems connect, and information circulates efficiently. This aspect governs translation, adaptability, and the mechanics of communication itself. Mercury here is function rather than meaning.

Mercury of Luna – Form & Manifestation (Tiriel)

Tiriel expresses Mercurial intelligence shaping inner experience into pattern. Thought influences memory, perception structures emotion, and ideas take form as habitual narratives. This correspondence governs mental imprinting, internal dialogue, and the way cognition molds lived reality. Mercury here gives shape to experience through interpretation.
